Hi all, as you can see the title, Tom & Jerry, even this post is something to do with a real life Tom & Jerry. Everyone, no matter a kid, a teenager or even an octagenerian loves this cat and mouse. Nobody ever imagined the life of a cat and mouse could be portrayed so humorously. I've always imagined, what if i was Jerry and i had a Tom, whom i could trouble so much that i dont have to be ever lonely in my life.
It was a Friday morning, when i entered my new class room, 6th std A section. It was a great day for all of us, cos we could wear pants instead of the mini shorts. It was so exciting for us and also we were mingled up, so new ppl, that meant new friends. The days went by and i started talking with everyone in class. And this was the day when our places were shifted and i sat in the 4th row and in front of me was a gujarathi girl. As days went by we started talking to each other. The whole class recognised Lloyd Joseph and Keta Parikh to be 2 good friends. But later it turned out to be a disaster in our lives. We started fighting for the silliest of reasons, and started hitting each other running around the class.
2 years went by and we were in 8th standard, and the month was august. All my class mates knew that this is the day Keta and Lloyd wont fight. It was Raksha Bandhan, the only day in our life that we dont fight. The next day we started running around the class hitting each other, our class mates see this often and named us Tom & Jerry of the class, slowly the news spread and we became so popular. I was just an average student, didnt stdy much and she was a very brilliant girl. After getting this name we started a new problem, who's Tom and who's Jerry. After a long long fight and the decision was taken by the class. I was always on the receiving end and i finally became the TOM!!!
Those days were really golden ones, i dont know how to describe it. For the past 6 years i was longing for such a friend all the time. We departed after our 10th standard. I still remember the day, she left with a smile. That was the day, when our results came, i remember her going just with a smile. I saw a totally sad smile, she did not speak with me nor did i. I didn't know wat to say her. She was a really good friend, a good sister.... Lots to tell about her. I planned to talk to her once atleast on the phone, but results and change of school i was so busy and went to my native after that.
When i returned i got a call from my friend, saying that she has asked me to call her when i was out of station. I was so happy on hearing that, but that did not last long! The next line from him was, she left to Gujarat, and she has planned to continue her studies there. I was so much upset that i didn't know wat to do!!! It was on a sunday morning, this year, when i was sitting idle and blank not knowing wat to do, my phone rang and it was some unknown number and a girl asked is it Lloyd and i thought again some other marketting ad, and with out much of an enthu i said yes i am, after hearing hi, this is Keta do u remember me??? I was very much shocked that i didn't know wat to talk, i asked hw r u and spoke nothing and hanged up the phone. It took half an hour for me to recover from that so called shock and called her back and spoke properly to her.
Those 10 mins on phone was like, i dont know wat to call it... It was simply awesome!!! We spoke a lot and i did not see any change in her, she was just the same, and she did not forget tamil. She's a nurse now and planning to do her higher studies!!! I dont have any words to explain my happiness... and she was the only person to say that i'm so much matured now!!! It felt so great... Friends like her are hard to find, i used to hate her som much at times but after getting seperated i longed for her a lot!!! Till now i dont have another friend like her, I treasure this as something... i dont know wat to call it... It's just great!!!
