Am i right? Did i go wrong somewher?

There was a time when I used to fight with my friends, while they talk about work places. One says I’m working in the top software company and I’m overpaid and another starts with saying I’m being paid much better than you in an electrical company. Then they come to me asking, why do work in a place where they don’t pay you as good as we are getting paid? I just ask them some simple questions and they go speechless.

Have you ever met the CEO of your company? And the answer was no, we have seen him on TV, or I got a glimpse of him when he visited our office for an hour. I said them; I’ve seen my CEO and talked with him for like 5 to 10 minutes. Is this a more satisfying or your salary? How many people are working at your workplace and everyone were saying, 500, 1500 and such numbers. I told them; there are about 150 people working at my office and I personally know at least 100 of them.

There was an interesting incident, when I asked my friend “hey do u know Mr. X, working in your office?” and he says,” I don’t know for sure, let me check the employee profiles and say if there’s a person like that”. After some time he comes with a negative response, and trust me people they both were working in the same office. Some have even said that our office is so huge that they didn’t know who their reporting manager was or not seen him in a while.

This is the kind of pride I took while saying about the place I work. My workplace is something that’s very close to my heart and which brought about a lot of change in me. In many of the work places, people are rewarded with bonuses for their achievement, but we have a different approach of awarding the best employees for their achievements, we proudly call it our Oscars. But even amidst all this I feel a bit away from my work place lately. Today I was accused of something very strange. I thought it was one of our core values, but there were some people at the higher end thinking the other way round and brought up unwanted stuff.

When everyone used to tell me, all work places are similar, I used to fight back and say proudly that mine is very different from all those. But now I feel, may be this too is similar. It was like somebody stamping me and not letting me grow. What I did out of good intentions, turned out to be bad ones. I wouldn’t have cared if it was my co-worker but this came from high up in the top level, which made me think the other way, may be all work places are the same. It used to be the place I worshipped but now turning out to be a disaster. I’m not sure what to say, but I felt bad and slowly my opinions started changing. Not able to conclude anything. I’m not even sure if I'm right.
